Be careful out there

In light of the wintery winter we're experiencing, please check social media for possible cancelations.  And if you are uneasy about getting out in dangerously frigid temps or icy roads, please join us online with YouTube or the JeffStreet app.

Leadership Affirmations

John Calcari and Gary Hawkins have been nominated and agreed to join the Elder team beginning in 2026.  Pam Schreiner has agreed to become a trustee.  There will be affirmation sheets available for JeffStreet members to show your support for our leadership.  As two dedicated men step down at the end of the month, we must thank Donnie Bowman and Tom Ewald for their years of service as Elder (4 years) and trustee (5 years), respectively.

Farewell Reception for Ethan and Gabe

2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate?  Ethan Frontone (worship minister) and Gabe Rutledge (youth minister)!  Both of them will be leaving their current JeffStreet positions to pursue other ventures.  Ethan will be working with his dad in the energy industry.  Gabe is continuing as full-time camp director at Little Galilee with many of his Sundays spent at supporting churches presenting/preaching/promoting this Christian mission.  Both fellas will continue to worship at JeffStreet as schedules allow.  In the meantime, let's celebrate their work with us for the last several years by reserving Sunday, Dec. 21, between services, for a card and cake reception.

Montana Mission Trip 2026

Because the Nov. 30 church service was canceled, the meeting for those interested in the summer Montana mission trip (planned for July 25-Aug. 2) has been rescheduled for Dec. 21 right after second service in The Well.

Christmas Eve services

Welcome to the Dial family

Mether (pronounced mE' ther)

Mether is a moms' group inviting women in any stage of parenting to join them.  The moms meet on the second and fourth Sundays during second service (10:45-12:00), in Rm 113.  Mether will not meet in December.

Culver's Night

Our local Culver's has assigned JeffStreet as the fundraising team for the first Monday of each month.   If you would be interested in helping, please give the Office a call or see Susan Tibbs.  The hours for serving are 5:00-6:30 and 6:30-8:00.  The "job" involves running bags out to the cars in the drive-through line, taking trays of food to in-house diners, and wiping off tables between guests.  Volunteering-makes a great family or small group gig!  We're aiming to have the Culver's earnings (as of June 2024) go toward replacing our aging roof in another year or so.   We missed January because of inclement weather.  Our February check was a good one!-$536.  Thank you JeffStreet workers and all you eaters too!  We were at it again on March 3-and received a check for $540. The April check came in at $489.  May's check:  $611.-our best one yet!!  The June check was:  $521.  Then July 7th was (drum roll please) $605!  The August check was $553.  We could not serve on Sept. 1 (per store constraints) because it was a holiday.  The October check was 1 cent shy of $604. The November check total was $546. December workday was canceled due to weather conditions.  Our grand total for 2025 = $5,005.--all going into our roof fund!

NO FEAR! (men's group)

This men's group meets at 6pm on the first Thursday of each month in The Well. High school guys on up are encouraged to attend.  In months having 5 Thursdays, the fellas will meet weekly for a Better Man study.   The BetterMan studies are getting rave reviews!  Please note:  No meeting in December due to the Open House and January's meeting has been moved to 1/8/2026.

Youth Ministry

Jr. and Sr. High School Youth Group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in The Well. December dates are 12.3, 12.10, and the semester will end with a Christmas party on 12.17.  Teens: Here's a great way to grow your faith.  Be sure to reserve Wednesday nights (6:30-8:00) in The Well.  Invite your friends!

Kids Ministry

JeffStreet offers children's classes from Grade 8 down to Nursery care at the 9:00 service.  Be sure to let our volunteers know how much they are appreciated!  Nursery-Grade 5 rooms are open with personnel during the 10:45 service!  Thank you Minda and faithful volunteers!
Of course you are welcome to have your child/ren with you in the Worship Service.  Should they become restless/wiggly/noisy, please feel free to go to the Family Room at the back of the Worship Center where you will be able to see and hear the service behind the glass.  And your little one/s will be able to move about freely.

Valet Parking

If the trek from the parking lot to the building seems a bit daunting to you, good news!  We have valet parking.  Just pull up under the overhang and Lenny Remmert or other reliable volunteer, will park your car for you.  Hang around in the Lobby for a minute or two and your keys will be returned to you promptly.

Sisters of Ruth (ladies' class)

These gals meet at 9:00 on Sunday mornings.  Ladies, you are invited to join them in Rm 208!  Every Sunday--except holiday weekends.

Food Pantry

The JeffStreet Food Pantry is a busy place.  Besides our gracious drivers (using their own vehicles and gasoline) delivering food boxes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, we have wonderful volunteers who clean the building, refrigerators, restroom, etc., help sort and shelve the inventory, pack generous food boxes, and visit and pray with the pantry recipients.  Sack Sunday is a regular opportunity (always the last Sunday of the month) for all of us to donate non-perishable items to the Pantry.  Monetary donations help cover the cost to purchase fresh items like milk, cheese, eggs, meat, veggies, and fruits.  Inflation is hurting everyone; thank you for your sacrificial giving  JeffStreet!  The number of calls the Pantry receives has jumped tremendously.  Ph # 217.651.6264.

HammerHeads

This group of volunteers is dedicated to serving our community with minor home repairs.  HammerHeads cannot do electrical, plumbing, roofing, or new construction work (per insurance constraints), but minor repairs and wheelchair ramps will certainly be considered.  If you own your home, have home-owners' insurance, and need a little help, go to our website:  jeffstreet.org  (click on Ministries/HammerHeads) to fill out a request.

Van Transportation

Need a ride to the 10:45 service?  Call the office (217.732.9294) during regular Office hours, (9am-3pm) Monday through Friday to get on the passenger list.  We will let you know what time to expect the van.

Writers' Circle

If you enjoy writing creatively, you will want to check out this group that meets here at JeffStreet.  They gather on the second Tuesday of each month in Rm 205 at 6:30pm, under the expert leadership of our own Ida Johnson.  Try your hand at poetry, prose, devotional materials, story telling, you-name-it.  You will definitely be encouraged to grow your talents and passion along with other like-minded classmates!

C.O.P.E. Mission

The Amalla family (Devane & Michaela and 2 young daughters) minister to the cherished children of Pokot in Kenya.  The country is currently in political turmoil, so they have not been able to personally return for a bit.

Liberian Mission

Marie and Joe Liway run that mission.  Their's is one of the newer missions we support.  Please remember to pray for their work in Liberia.

1-for-One

The receptacle in the back of the Worship Center is for dropping in a dollar each week. At the end of the month that money is collected and given to someone in the community who needs a helping hand.
If you know of a non-JeffStreeter who could truly benefit, please fill out the online nomination form (under the GIVE button on our website).  Most recipients receive in the neighborhood of $500-$600.

Dorcas Circle

If you like to do hand sewing such crocheting, knitting, quilting, etc., you might want to meet up with others who are making prayer shawls and baby blankets for those in our church who are recovering from an illness/surgery or celebrating the birth of a new baby.  The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 9:00am in Rm 302.

Men's Bible Study

The Tuesday night Men's Bible Study group welcomes any fellas who would like to join them for any or all of their studies!  6pm in Rm 201They are currently studying the book of Revelation.

These ladies gather on the third Sunday of the month.   We usually meet in Rm 302 for lunch (bring your own brown bag) and for an interesting program. No meeting in December.

Prayer Requests

Published requests will be sent out to the JeffStreet email prayer list.  (Must have subject's permission.)  The prayer request cards are sent via email to the Elders and the staff prays over these requests at Monday morning staff meetings and the Monday night Prayer Team  prays over them each week at 6pm.  You are welcome and encouraged to join the Prayer Team in Rm 113*  For requests/praises please fill out our prayer request form HERE.
Confidential requests are prayed over by the Elders and/or staff.  *Rm 113 is behind the Children's check-in area.  It has been completely re-purposed and re-decorated into a lovely Prayer/Meeting Room.  Be sure to take a peek.  Please call the office to reserve the room if your group would like to use it for an upcoming gathering.

Volunteer Opportunities!

  • Are you looking for a place to serve?  Have an hour or so free on Sunday afternoons?  How about joining (or re-joining) the much-appreciated Homebound Team who visit, pray, and serve communion to several nursing home residents and shut-ins.  Kudos to Alice Doehring for overseeing this program!  She is looking for more volunteers to join their team in Oct, Nov, Dec.
  • How about serving with the Sunday morning Donut/Coffee Team?  Kelly Cale would love a couple more friendly folks to make coffee and serve donuts once a month for an hour or so., either service.
  • Another Sunday morning opportunity is communion prep.  The trays are already prepared by a wonderful weekly servant, but we need a few more volunteers to put them in place before the service, refill before the next, and pick up after.  Susan Shew would love to show you the plan.
  • Kids Ministry.  Minda Abeln, our Children's Minister, has just the spot for you, at 9:00 or 10:45.  If we don't teach our children who God is, Satan will teach them everything He isn't.
  • Know your way around some simple construction sites?  The HammerHeads team can always use a few more hands to help with ramp building, fence building/mending, painting, and other small projects. (No electrical, plumbing, or roofing jobs.)  See John Tibbs or Gary Hawkins for more info.
  • Many hands make light work.  Please consider donating a little of your time.  Studies show that often 20% of the members do 80% of the work;  JeffStreet--let's blow those statistics to smithereens!

Little Galilee Christian Camp and Retreat Center

Located near Clinton:  7539 Little Galilee Road.  Lots of activities are available:  high ropes course, swimming pool, zip lining across the pond, and giant swing (all supervised by trained personnel).  The camp's mission is to create environments so people of every generation can come and take intentional steps toward Jesus.  During Autumn, Winter, and Spring the camp has a plethora of rental opportunities for churches, colleges, civic organizations, families, etc.  The camp personnel also plan for events of interest such as Senior Saints Day, High School Paintball Weekend, Scrapbooking & Crafts Weekend, Dads & Lads, Ladies Day, even week-long bus trips. The schedule fills up quickly--please plan ahead.

First Step class

Newer to JeffStreet?  Want to know more?  We offer a First Step class 3 or 4 times a year with lunch provided.  You'll have a chance to meet the whole staff and hear more about our mission, vision, and values, and ask questions, all in an informal setting.  The next one will be March 22, 2026.  Register online or call the office:  217.732.9294.
